Fires are continuing to devastate Humbert River Station as it sweeps across three paddocks with no signs of slowing and with the grader now broken we can no longer cut fire breaks to try and contain it. Hopefully a wind change and some cool nights will help bring it under control.
Another week has started on Humbert River Station and its bound to be a busy one with second round kicking off, a road train loaded with cattle lick arriving and another bush fire tearing across the station and that’s just all in one day.
The Fire Season has started again in the territory leaving cattle stations across the top end on standby as they can occur at any time whether they have been deliberately lit or are the result of an accident or natural causes. They are controlled mainly through the use of firebreaks and back burning. These photos are from a recent fire that was deliberately lit on the station.
